CDP Resource started off as a research project. Having heard quite a bit about customer data platforms from not-too-many sources, I set out to learn as much as possible about anything and everything that called itself, or someone else called, a CDP.
The output was to be a "CDP Buyers' Guide." The end product is still available, if you want to take a look. .
See my 2018 Q4 Buyers’ Guide, featuring 95 CDP listings in old-school fantasy sports magazine style.
The hope was that this guide would somehow clear up some of the confusion in the marketplace around what customer data platforms were.
It would, for me, a bit.
In creating the guide, I landed on a few things:
- It’s indeed “all about the use cases” – but, it is also about:
- Separating “the CDP” from “The CDP”, and
- Acknowledging the difference between required, soon-to-be-required, and desired
Now, we can talk about these things again.
Over the next several weeks, I will be taking a look at all of the old posts I can track down from the old site. I will be reposting some choice options here with additional commentary on Medium and on LinkedIn.
